31/10/10 all saints eve / halloween
it’s been a while since i last posted. a time of “falling off the rails”. i was away for a week at the beach for my friend’s birthday. for the past week i’ve been conscientiously vegan & eating loads of fruit / smoothies / vegetables & gentle exercise and of course, feel much better than this time last week. my determination is strong at this time. simply because i want to direct a shift. an important shift in who i am to myself. and this evolves around my physical self. right now it does anyhow.
losing count of the days
.. and so another two days have dropped out, or by. we had gemma’s farewell at work, which was an amazing long & boozy lunch at the grace darling hotel in collingwood. with glorious vegetarian antipasto platters and endless flowing glasses of rose. it was a tease of summer days, sunshine & lollipops. i haven’t enjoyed such perfect company and social occasion for aaaages, and sometimes you just have to do that for cathartic reasons. it’s good for the soul.
i know that there will be times like these, and so i just went with the flow & today (saturday) stayed in, feeling comfy and cosy at home for the first night in a week, re-engaging with my domestic space.
i missed raw again today, but still feel ready and happy to move back into it tomorrow and in a far better mind state than this time last week.
day 5: 23/09/2010
somewhere in between i missed a day. we’ve had loads on this week at work, events to attend music, film & art. which leads me slightly astray from the raw-ness. in between shows with some work pals, we went to a greek restaurant, where lovely greek men played bouzouki music and ladies swirling sirens. we ordered a feast, of dolmade, tzatziki, kale salad, beetroot salad and various other delights the others shared. i think i did okay for a shared eating out experience. not raw. but vegan. & healthy.
tonight (after a great day on fruit & green smoothie), i went with gemma and ate field mushroom burgers. i know! but it was another late at work event night, and i surrounded the burger with fruits and nuts.
on the way home, i was driving past maccas (in the work car), and faltered. i thought i should drive in and get burgers and go to the 7-11 to get cherry ripes and europa bars. then i realised i didn’t even like meat, or maccas. and with resolve and strength, kept driving and went to the supermarket where i bought organic bananas, almond butter and a lovely potted succulent.
day 3: 21/09/2010
today i woke with a killer headache, and stayed home from work, sleeping mostly until early afternoon. i had a yummy smoothie for breakfast (strawberries, banana and almond milk), the bananas are organic and of the smaller variety, and sweet and tasty. it’s such a natural high to wake and actually savour and taste your food. i decided i needed some fresh air and went for a walk, first to the local op shop to make a donation and have a quick look around, and then up the hill and to the supermarket for more supplies.
mushrooms, strawberries, raddachio, yummy raw nut slices covered in sesame seeds, organic apples and banana, pineapple and a red pear.
the walk took me about 40 minutes, and cleared my head somewhat from an end-of-winter funk. and got me excited about moving my body again. slowly and gently.
dinner is salad & i’ve got fresh herbs. mint, dill and basil and black pepper to spice things up & flavour with lemon juice and olive oil (slight drizzle).
oh, and i wore my jeans and they fit okay. just okay, but less than TOO tight.
(background: i’ve never really been a small person, so i’m not trying to be super small, just healthy and to feel comfortable in my clothes. and to wear nice things, that i would like. when i was 22 i got hit by a car and fractured my pelvis and femur and my head was cracked open. i had a pin put through my femur and it’s still there. now, years later, i have no trouble from this accident, but a super dooper scar or two and the need to build up muscle strength in my legs or core strength over all. i aim to be one of those old ladies who is super fit yoga stretchy bendy lady).
